UMUNNEOCHI — The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Abia North Senatorial Zone in the 2027 general election, Hon. Uko Nkole, has continued his grassroots engagement across Umunneochi Local Government Area, interfacing with traditional rulers, youths, community stakeholders and party leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.
Nkole’s engagements, which covered different communities within the same local government area, were aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation, listening to community concerns and advancing the NDC’s political message ahead of the elections.
The senatorial candidate first visited the palace of HRH Eze Nwajiofor of Nneato, where he participated in the conferment of a chieftaincy title.
From there, the delegation proceeded to the palace of Eze Ugwu of Amalato, where Nkole interfaced with youths and stakeholders of the community, exchanging views on the political and developmental direction of the area.
The engagements continued at Ikenga Obiefuna’s residence at Obilikpa, Umuobi, where the NDC candidate met with ward chairmen of the party in Umunneochi LGA as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure.
The meetings also provided an opportunity for Nkole to emphasise the wider political vision of the NDC and the need for committed grassroots participation ahead of 2027.
A major point of the campaign message remains the presidential ambition of Peter Obi on the NDC platform, with Nkole urging supporters and stakeholders in Abia North to see the 2027 election as an opportunity to support a political movement he described as capable of delivering a new direction for Nigeria.
Nkole stressed the importance of building the NDC from the wards upward, maintaining that a strong grassroots structure would be critical to delivering victory for the party’s candidates across Abia North and supporting Peter Obi’s presidential bid.
He was accompanied on the visits by the NDC House of Representatives candidate for Aro/Ohafia, Mr. Elvis Ogbonna; Bar. Chikamnayo Eze, NDC candidate for Umunneochi State Constituency; Mazi Emmanuel O. Kanu; Chief Uduma Nnoke; and Capt. Awa Udonsi (Rtd.).
The delegation was received by Engr. Simon Obiechile, Ikenga Obiefuna, Chief Aliadimpali Chukwuemeka, NDC Ward Chairmen in Umunneochi LGA, Hon. Chigbo Biereonwu, Secretary of NDC Umunneochi LGA, and Broson Eze, among others.
The Umunneochi engagements form part of Nkole’s ongoing grassroots consultations as the 2027 political season gathers momentum, with the Abia North candidate positioning the NDC as a platform for broader political participation and a renewed national direction.
