Stakeholders of Ihechiowa Clan in Arochukwu Local Government Area have held a strategic meeting at the Atan Ihechiowa residence of Chief Emeka Kalu, former President-General of the Ihechiowa Development Union.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders and political actors from the area, including the NDC candidates for the Abia North Senatorial District, Abia North Federal Constituency and Arochukwu State House of Assembly.
Among those present were Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole, candidate for Abia North Senatorial District; Elvis, candidate for the House of Representatives; and Hon. Chinedu Ijoma, candidate for the State House of Assembly, Arochukwu Constituency.
The gathering provided an opportunity for the stakeholders to interact with the candidates, exchange views on the political and developmental aspirations of Ihechiowa people, and discuss the need for credible and effective representation at the various levels of government.
Discussions also reflected the broader 2027 political realignment around the NDC, with the candidates and stakeholders identifying with the presidential aspiration of Peter Obi and the call for a new political direction anchored on credible leadership, effective representation and people-oriented governance.
The meeting underscored the growing political engagement among Ihechiowa stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections, with participants focusing on leadership, representation, development and the need to actively participate in shaping the political future of the country.
The stakeholders expressed their commitment to continued engagement and mobilisation towards ensuring that the interests and aspirations of the NDC candidates and appreciated HE Mr Peter Obi for his unrelenting commitment for a new Nigeria and pledged their unfailing support to him and his NDC quality candidates in the Abia North Zone .
The meeting ended on a positive note, with stakeholders and the candidates reaffirming the importance of unity and grassroots participation in building a stronger political voice for Ihechiowa Clan and contributing to the emergence of a new political leadership at the national level.
