A vocal chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Chief Chidiebere J. Okoh, has called for the continued support of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, describing him as a tested and capable leader whose legislative experience has translated into tangible benefits for the people of Bende Federal Constituency.
Okoh, in a statement on the quality of representation in Bende Federal Constituency, said the Deputy Speaker’s record in office provides sufficient evidence of his capacity to attract programmes, opportunities and infrastructure to the constituency.
He cited the reported monthly income support reaching over 11,200 beneficiaries through initiatives associated with Kalu’s office, noting that such interventions have provided economic relief to numerous households and strengthened livelihoods within the constituency.
The APC chieftain also highlighted the Deputy Speaker’s efforts in the areas of electricity and infrastructure, particularly the development of solar power facilities and the facilitation of road projects across communities.
According to him, Kalu’s influence and effectiveness have also extended to education, with the attraction of two universities to Item, Bende Federal Constituency, which he described as a strategic investment capable of creating lasting opportunities for young people and stimulating local economic growth.
Okoh argued that effective representation at the federal level requires more than political visibility, stressing that legislative experience, institutional connections and the ability to attract development are critical attributes that should be valued by constituents.
He therefore urged the people of Bende Federal Constituency to assess political leadership on the basis of measurable achievements and capacity, rather than sentiment or short-term political calculations.
He maintained that Benjamin Kalu’s experience as a federal legislator and his current position as Deputy Speaker place him in a strong position to continue advancing the interests of Bende at the national level.
Okoh called on constituents and stakeholders to support what he described as a proven leadership model, insisting that continuity under a capable representative would provide greater opportunity for consolidating ongoing developmental gains across the constituency.
