Ohafia South 2027: Chidi Igwe Ukah Outlines New Representation Agenda At Abuja Stakeholders’ Consultations

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Ohafia South State Constituency in the 2027 Abia State House of Assembly election, Hon. Chidi Igwe Ukah, has outlined his vision for people-centred representation, insisting that public office must be treated as a responsibility to constituents, not a favour bestowed on them.

Ukah made the position known during a series of stakeholders’ consultations in Abuja, where he presented his ideas on education, community development and the need to rethink representation in Ohafia South.

He called for a revival of the communal commitment to education that once defined Ohafia, recalling the tradition of collective support for the education of young people. He argued that political leadership should have helped sustain that legacy and called for deliberate action to address the gaps contributing to the decline in educational standards.

The NDC candidate also spoke about drawing on his diaspora exposure to advance development initiatives and encourage modern approaches capable of improving living standards. He stressed the need to address traditional practices that, in his view, stand in the way of progress, while promoting ideas that measure up to contemporary international standards.

Stakeholders who attended the consultations expressed optimism about the proposals and pledged to take his message to communities across Ohafia South. Their response, according to the account of the meetings, reflected an interest in his plans for representation and development.
