The stage is set for a historic milestone in the journey of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) as the union prepares to officially unveil its roadmap to the 50th Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) celebration alongside a high-level Physical Central Working Committee (CWC) and National Executive Council (NEC) conference in Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the union’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Izang Francis Atsen, the unveiling ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the union’s National Secretariat located in Kubwa, behind Zenith Bank, opposite Dutse Alhaji Express, Abuja.

The event is expected to be formally declared open by the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, who will also perform the official unveiling of the roadmap to RATTAWU’s 50th anniversary celebration.

The gathering will bring together members of the union’s leadership under the CWC and NEC structures for a crucial physical conference aimed at charting the future of the organisation while reflecting on its decades-long contribution to the media, arts, and cultural sectors in Nigeria.

The conference will revolve around the theme: “Roadmap to RATTAWU@50 – The Pivotal, Yet Unsung Role of Responsible Media and Culture in National Development: The Golden Era Perspective.”

The theme is expected to stimulate robust discussions on the strategic role of responsible media, culture, theatre, and creative arts in driving national development, while also highlighting the often underappreciated contributions of practitioners in the sector to Nigeria’s democratic and socio-cultural growth.

As part of the programme schedule, members of the CWC and NEC are expected to arrive on Monday, May 18, 2026, ahead of the conference and unveiling ceremony, while departure has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

The Golden Jubilee roadmap unveiling represents a major milestone for RATTAWU as the union begins formal preparations toward celebrating five decades of advocacy, labour representation, and commitment to the welfare of workers in Nigeria’s media, theatre, arts, and cultural industries.

The event is expected to set the tone for a memorable celebration of RATTAWU’s legacy, achievements, and future aspirations as it moves toward its 50th anniversary.
