Highlighting the late cleric’s remarkable contributions, Dr Offor noted that Rev. Dr Uma Ukpai’s ministry went far beyond the pulpit. “He was a man whose life embodied compassion, humility, and integrity. From supporting educational initiatives to caring for the less privileged, he lived a life that exemplified God’s love in action. His personal touch—words of counsel, encouragement, and prayers—transformed the lives of many, leaving a legacy that will endure for decades.”

Dr Offor praised Governor Otti for recognising a life of such exceptional impact. “The decision to accord Rev. Uma Ukpai a state burial reflects wisdom, respect, and a deep appreciation for excellence. It is a reminder that true greatness is measured not only by accolades but by the positive influence one leaves on others.”

Ambassador Offor encouraged citizens to emulate the late evangelist’s values of righteousness, service, and selflessness. “Honouring a life like Rev. Uma Ukpai’s is more than a ceremonial gesture; it is a call to action. It reminds us all of the power of faith, dedication, and compassion, and challenges each of us to contribute meaningfully to our communities.”
He also commended the Asaga community for the bold step they have taken to immortalise the revered clergy with a human-size monument at the centre of the community, saying it is a sign that God’s General is honoured, even among his people.

Concluding, Dr Offor stated, “As we celebrate this remarkable man, let us reflect on his enduring legacy—one of spiritual guidance, societal transformation, and unwavering commitment to humanity. Governor Otti’s recognition ensures that the lessons and inspiration from Rev. Uma Ukpai’s life continue to resonate for generations to come.”
