2027: Why Bende Should Consider Pascal Karibe Ojigwe

The 2027 House of Representatives election presents Bende Federal Constituency with an opportunity to assess its political leadership and determine the priorities its next representative should pursue.

Amb. Monyeazor Oluebube Sunday is making a case for Hon. Pascal Karibe Ojigwe, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, arguing that his candidacy offers an opportunity to place peace, economic empowerment and effective representation at the centre of the constituency’s development agenda.

An indigene of Item, Ojigwe has adopted “Peace That Produces Prosperity” as his political philosophy. His campaign message focuses on youth and women empowerment, improved representation at the National Assembly, community development and unity among the people of Bende.

The case for his candidacy rests on whether these priorities can be translated into specific commitments that address the constituency’s needs.

The Test Of Representation

Bende’s next representative will be expected to perform legislative duties, articulate the constituency’s interests in the National Assembly and pursue development opportunities through relevant federal institutions.

For Ojigwe, a credible campaign should identify the issues he intends to prioritise, explain how he plans to address them and establish a clear basis for constituents to assess his performance.

His development agenda should also address the concerns of communities across Item, Igbere, Bende Town, Ozuitem, Umuhu and Alayi, with particular attention to infrastructure, economic activity and access to government programmes.

Amb. Monyeazor argues that Ojigwe deserves consideration because of his stated commitment to these issues. The strength of that argument will depend on the substance of his proposals and his ability to demonstrate how they can be pursued within the responsibilities of a federal legislator.

Empowerment Must Go Beyond Promises

Youth and women empowerment feature prominently in Ojigwe’s political message. For these commitments to have practical value, they must be supported by identifiable programmes, clear implementation plans and measurable outcomes.

Skills acquisition, support for small businesses and access to relevant government interventions are possible areas of focus. However, voters need to know which initiatives the candidate intends to pursue, how beneficiaries would be selected and what role his office would play in securing their implementation.

This distinction matters. A campaign promise becomes meaningful when voters can understand what is being proposed, how it can be delivered and how progress will be measured.

Ojigwe’s candidacy provides an opportunity to place these questions before the electorate as the campaign develops.

Party Loyalty And Bende’s Interests

Amb. Monyeazor also urges voters to look beyond party affiliation when assessing the candidates contesting for the constituency’s seat.

His appeal extends to members and supporters of the APC, PDP, Labour Party, APGA and other political groups, including the NDC. He argues that the constituency’s development interests should remain central to the electoral decision.

The appeal, however, must be matched by a clear assessment of the alternatives before voters. Candidates should be judged on their policy proposals, understanding of Bende’s needs, legislative priorities and willingness to account for their performance.

For Ojigwe, the task is to demonstrate why his candidacy and the NDC platform offer the representation Bende requires.

The Choice Before Ndi Bende

As the 2027 election approaches, Amb. Monyeazor Oluebube Sunday is endorsing Hon. Pascal Karibe Ojigwe as his preferred candidate for Bende Federal Constituency.

His position is that Ojigwe’s emphasis on peace, prosperity and empowerment provides a basis for a different approach to representation. The electorate will determine the strength of that case by examining the candidate’s proposals alongside those of his opponents.

The election should therefore be an opportunity for a direct conversation about legislative priorities, constituency development and accountability—not merely an exchange of political slogans.

A New Bende Is Coming — Let Us Build It Together!
