As debates and anger rises among Abians following the inordinate ambition of Mr. Chinedum Orji, the former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly to return to public office after only four years of being out of power, the question on the lips of everyone remains what good legacies of the former Speaker and his family exists to support their new frenzy to return to public office.

When all Abians could record for their legacies are all in the negatives: unwholesome pilfering and pillaging of the state resources, sharing of public funds among few chosen friendsand associates, acquisitions of properties and estates all over the world, the reign of thuggery and street gangs, the den of robbery exemplified by “osisi ka nkwu” denizens and other notorious outlaws, a period characterized by total lack of infrastructure, a period when Abia State earned the unenviable title of the dirtiest state capital, and most of all, the Orji family came under the EFCC hammer for theft of N500 billion by the same characters.

The list of infamy by Chinedum Orji and his family goes on and on. In as much as Chinedum Orji, his father, and brothers still can not explain to these petitions established since 2017, it is obvious they have perfected the strategy to keep the issues in perpetual dilation. But grapevine sources alleges that Chinedum Orji and his family acquired roughly 200 properties and estates both locally and in foreign lands through criminal syndication for the sixteen years they held power in the state . EFCC investigators also disclosed that large caches of cash running into billions were found stashed in dummy graves and PV tanks in the house of Chinedum Orji both in Umuahia and Abuja.

These were monies meant for the development of Abia State but stolen by those who were entrusted with public trust. The sins of the father would be visited unto his fourth generation we were often told. But when we have to deal with the combined sins of both the father and his first generation, what would God be expected to do?

By far, the biggest calamity that befell Abia State was the unfortunate entry of Theodore Ahamefula Orji and his family into Abia politics. His entry permit was made possible, when as Principal Secretary at then INEC, he compromised, manipulated, and facilitated the results of the election that brought Orji Uzo Kalu to power in 1999. So, seeing the way TAO came, it is obvious nothing good could have come from him. OUK’S impunity coupled with the notorious corruption badge of dishonor of mamacracy ensured that Theodore Orji was given a clean slate in the OUK administration with his family emerging as sacred cows on the heels of his appointment as the Chief of Staff to the governor. He, of course, didn’t disappoint his principal with his civil service experience in creating payment headings and codes to perpetuate fraud. Theodore Orji was to OUK, a round peg in a round hole at the beginning of the 4th Republic in 1999 as the state was turned to a looting bazaar.

Theodore Orji and his son Chinedum Orji were the first to introduce the “nna na nwa” political ideology that would spread the whole country over, their only business while in office was steal, loot, plunder and destroy. Development was never part of the agenda of being in public office.

But while Theodore Orji and his son were busy stealing left, right and center, the EFCC was later to come to the state under a tip off to discover among other things, a whopping N2 billion in one of the Chief of Staff’s accounts being managed by his son Chinedum Orji. What a family, what an unfortunate state. This was how Theodore Orji landed in awaiting trial detention facility. But OUK, instead of taking Theodore Orji to task over such discovery, rather worked for him to become his successor in office, having then being baptized into the family of corruption. OUK begat Theodore Orji, and begat Okezuo Ikpeazu.

At the center of this criminal enterprise was the sneaky, snaky, and sleazy self-styled Ikukuoma Abia. So tell me how such a state can develop. This was the evil chain that bedraggled Abia to a standstill until the arrival of the New Abia under Alex Chioma Otti. From these accounts, one need not be told that Theodore Orji, Chinedum Orji, and their family did a greater damage to Abia than any other state actor. Therefore, we kindly ask the question, what did Chinedum Orji and his father suddenly remember that is propelling their avaricious quest for a return to public service after 16 years of abuse of their privileged positions. As of today, the biggest achievement of the Orjis is the N500 billion EFCC investigation, which they are yet to appear in court to defend.

The last thing Abians wants to hear is that Chinedum Orji found his way back to public office. It took sixteen years of pains to be finally liberated from “nna na nwa” fiefdom of impunity and criminality. Enough is enough. No one wants to go back to Egypt.
