Change Of Mantle: Hon. Uko Nkole For Senate – Dave Uma

Change is imminent in the political landscape of Abia North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general election.

There is a growing call for a new beginning, away from what supporters describe as an over-hyped political figure seeking another opportunity for what they regard as political recycling.

It is against this backdrop that Hon. Uko Nkole is being presented as a formidable candidate who, during his representation of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, demonstrated passionate and committed leadership.

Hon. Uko Nkole has proven himself as a tested and experienced leader whose supporters believe can secure, sustain and accelerate development across Abia North Senatorial District if given the opportunity to serve.

The 2027 general election in Abia North, therefore, is unlikely to be business as usual.

The 2023 general election also remains a significant reference point in the political conversation. During that election, Ohafia was reportedly described as an IPOB enclave by a senatorial candidate, a claim that supporters of Nkole consider inflammatory and unacceptable in decent political communication.

They argue that the narrative contributed to an atmosphere that affected voting in several centres, particularly in parts of Isiama wards, leaving many eligible voters disenfranchised.

The experience, they maintain, was followed by political tension and competing narratives that left a lasting impression on the electorate.

For Nkole’s supporters, such an experience should not be allowed to define the 2027 election in Abia North.

The natural strength of Hon. Uko Nkole, they argue, lies in his achievement-driven and goal-oriented approach to leadership. His years in the lower chamber of the National Assembly, they contend, provided an opportunity for his determination and commitment to public service to be tested.

With the 2027 contest gradually taking shape, Hon. Uko Nkole of the NDC is emerging as one of the names attracting attention in the race for the Abia North Senatorial seat.

For his supporters, the aspiration represents a change of mantle and a renewed push for experienced representation in the Red Chamber.
