As Abia State looks ahead to the 2027 governorship election, I believe the time has come for us to make a clear and decisive choice about the future we want. Within the All Progressives Congress, many of us are rallying behind a leader we trust can reconnect our state to the centre of national politics—Benjamin Kalu.
My support for Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu is not based on sentiment or political convenience. It is rooted in a firm belief that transparency and accountability must define governance in Abia State if democracy is to have real meaning for our people.
For too long, governance in our state has been shrouded in secrecy. Decisions are taken behind closed doors, while praise-singers attempt to paint a picture of performance that many citizens cannot see or feel. This is not the democracy our people deserve, and it cannot take us forward.
I am convinced that Benjamin Kalu represents a clear departure from this approach. He is a leader who understands that governance is not a one-man show. He carries people along, listens, and builds consensus. That inclusive style of leadership is exactly what Abia needs at this moment.

But beyond leadership style, there is also a strategic reality we must confront. Abia cannot continue to operate in political isolation from the federal government. In Nigeria today, alignment with the centre is not just politics—it is a pathway to development. States that are well connected to the federal government benefit from stronger collaboration, increased federal presence, and accelerated infrastructure growth.
With the APC at the centre, supporting Hon. Benjamin Kalu is also about positioning Abia State to take full advantage of these opportunities. We cannot afford to remain on the sidelines while others move ahead.
Some will argue that competence matters more than political alignment, and I agree. But in Benjamin Kalu, we have both competence and connection. His experience at the national level and his ability to navigate federal structures place him in a unique position to deliver real results for Abia people.
There is also the urgent need to rebuild trust between the government and the governed. Our people want to be heard. They want to be part of the process. They want a government that is open, accountable, and responsive. This is the kind of leadership I see in Benjamin Kalu.
As we approach 2027, this election must be about more than personalities. It must be about principles. It must be about choosing transparency over secrecy, inclusiveness over exclusion, and progress over stagnation.
For me, the choice is clear. I believe in Benjamin Kalu—not just as a candidate, but as the right leader to reposition Abia State and align it strategically for growth and development within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
The future of Abia is in our hands. We must choose wisely.
