Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has refused to open his defence in the terrorism case filed against him by the Federal Government.

Kanu told the Federal High Court in Abuja that, after reviewing the case file and evidence, he found no legitimate charge linking him to terrorism or any crime.

“I have seen their evidence — there’s nothing in it. I’m a victim of persecution, not prosecution,” he said boldly.

Justice James Omotosho, who presided over the case, advised Kanu to submit his position in writing and consult legal experts before proceeding.

The court has now adjourned to November 4, 5, and 6, 2025, for the final written arguments by both parties.

This latest twist has generated mixed reactions across the country, as many await to see whether the court will dismiss the charges or proceed to judgment.
