A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Chief Chidiebere J. Okoh, has strongly criticized a recent statement by Dr. Sampson Uche Ogah over his political stance ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing it as “abnormal” and a clear case of anti-party conduct.
Reacting to Ogah’s declaration of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 while simultaneously backing Governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party (LP) for a second term, Okoh expressed concern over what he termed “conflicting political loyalty.”
According to Okoh, such a position undermines party discipline and cohesion, particularly at a time when the APC is positioning itself to reclaim power in Abia State. He stressed that the party has credible and capable aspirants who are ready to contest and unseat the incumbent governor.
He specifically referenced Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu as one of the qualified figures within the APC, noting that leaders like him are prepared to take over leadership in the state if the opportunity arises.
Okoh further argued that Ogah’s stance sends the wrong signal to party members and supporters, warning that no political party can thrive when its members openly align with rival platforms.
He maintained that Dr. Ogah must clearly define his political allegiance, urging him to desist from what he described as “divided loyalty” between the APC and the Labour Party.
“Politics is about structure, loyalty, and direction. You cannot claim membership of one party and openly promote another. It is unacceptable,” Okoh stated.
He warned that failure to take a firm stand could attract disciplinary measures, including possible expulsion from the party.
The development has stirred reactions within political circles in Abia State, as stakeholders continue to weigh in on party unity and strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
