In the early hours of Monday morning, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State appointed Omobayo Marvellous Godwins as his new deputy, following the impeachment of the former Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, by the Edo State House of Assembly. Omobayo Marvellous Godwins is currently 38 years old and hails from Akoko-Edo, Edo North Senatorial District. General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), the former head of state of the military, has been urged by Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the highest Igbo socio-cultural organisation, to ask for forgiveness and apologise to the Igbo people for his recent remarks regarding the Biafra civil war.
