RATTAWU PRESIDENT COMRADE PRINCE EMEKA KALU (MAGIC FINGERS), ADDRESSES RATTAWU MEMBERS AND PARTNERS ON THE OCASSION OF HIS FIRST 100 DAYS IN OFFICE, OCTOBER 25TH 2025.
Dear Comrades of RATTAWU,
Today, we mark a milestone of our first 100 days in office as the National Leadership (Administration) fondly referred to as TEAM PEKMAGIC. Elected on July 17th, 2025, during the 7th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference (NDC) of our great Union RATTAWU, held at the International Hotel Gombe State.
Our hearts swell with gratitude and pride for the trust you have placed in us (the entire Team PEKMagic National Leadership) and the collective spirit that defines our great Union RATTAWU.
This moment is a reflection on what has been achieved and a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to forging a brighter future for every member of the Radio, Television, Theatre, and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU), the largest umbrella body for Broadcast Media and Cultural Workers in Nigeria.

In these past 100 days, we have embarked on both physical and human infrastructural transformative journeys. Our National Secretariat, the heartbeat of our union, has undergone significant upgrades to reflect the dignity and resilience of RATTAWU.
With these improvements being much more than physical, they symbolize our resolve to create a professional and secure environment where every union member and staff feels truly valued.
Beyond infrastructure, enhanced and sustained welfare and well-being packages were extended to both serving and ex leaders, including past presidents of the union.
With “Training and Education” as key components in our development and revival, members and staff, have been exposed to relatively impactful trainings, seminars and workshops, including youth mentorship summits within and outside the country, both physical and online.
A batch of young RATTAWU members within the age brackets of 35 and below, including two leaders, would be in Ghana in the first week of November 2025.
The RATTAWU Presidential Team PEKMagic, has worked tirelessly to strengthen the union’s influence and relevance; critically engaging as well as partnering strategically with key stakeholders across Nigeria’s media, Labour, Public Relations, Private cum Public Entrepreneural Sectoral Landscape, notably the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), leadership of our Parent Labour Centre-the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
We also familiarized with the Trade Union Congress (TUC), in solidarity, we are sharing cordiality with all industrial unions and professional bodies, especially our sister union the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), our foreign umbrella bodies including the UNI-MEI, UNI-GLOBAL and UNI-AFRICA. Our Broadcast Media and Cultural Organizations; the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Voice of Nigeria (VON), the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), the Press Council, National Commission for Museum and Monuments, Video Censors Board, the National Gallery of Arts (NGA) and the NationalTheatre.
With the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), as point of, yet unlimited contact to all the state owned broadcast media and cultural councils for arts and culture across the country. To all these partners, we extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation.
These partnerships and many more to come, are already laying solid foundations for our advocacy, particularly our push for a special media salary structure and package for the cultural worker, which recognizes the invaluable contributions of our members. Our partnership visits to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, as well as the Ministers of Labour and Employment, Culture and Creative Economy etc so far, have opened channels for meaningful dialogues to further advance the welfare of media, culture and creative workers.
Our varied presence on national, regional, and
international platforms have been unmistakable, as they place us on an enviable Global Map.
RATTAWU’s Flag was high up in partnerships at the FGN Connect Tours, the Broadcast Media Africa, NAFEST, INAC, Creative Economy, Nigeria Reputation Management Group, the recently unveiled World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) billed for November 2026 and related summits. We have championed the interests of our members and positioned our union as a leader in shaping the future of Nigeria’s creative industries.
One of the numerous proud moments of late, just like several others, was our inclusion in the Joint Steering Committee of the National Board for Technical Education and the Creative Media Sector Skills Council, inaugurated at NTA Headquarters in Abuja, showing our commitment to elevating professional standards and fostering skills development.
In times of joy and sorrow, we have stood as one family. We were deeply honoured to join our Oyo State Council for the commissioning of their projects, notably the 600 Seat Capacity Multi Purpose Hall, funded and built by affluent Ibadan citizens and public spirited individuals.
Our current partnership with Real Estate Giant, the High Chief Austin Chukwudi Oguejiofor (Onwa Enugwu Ukwu) Rotech Engineering, Developers of Abuja Airport Garden City Estate.
Equally, our hearts were with the entire members, as we mourned the loss of Comrades Benjamin Adebowale, former RATTAWU Chairman of Ogun State Council, Gombe State Council Secretary, late Comrade Danladi A Tula, Chisom of Arise News and Benue State Council Chairman, late Comrade John Diogo Ngukpen (whose burial comes up at the end of the Month. Our condolence visits to the bereaved families and colleagues are reminders of our duty to support one another through life’s highs and lows.
As we look ahead, we remain steadfast in our commitment to amplify your voices, secure better working conditions, and ensure RATTAWU remains a beacon of hope and progress.
These 100 days are just the beginning! With labour motto “Forward Ever, Backward Never” as our guide, let us continue to work hand in hand, united in purpose and driven by the belief that our best days lie ahead.
Thank you for your trust, your resilience, and your unwavering dedication to RATTAWU. Together, we will achieve greatness.
Yours in solidarity,
Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu
President, RATTAWU
