“Democracy without Women is incomplete”.
These were the words of the National President of Radio Television Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU); Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu (Magic Fingers), at the South-South Zonal Summit of Bridge Builders Initiative for Green Nigeria,(BBIGN), a Socio- Political Association with the Mandate of creating a Platform for Political Engagement, Mobilization and Partnership towards the Progress and Prosperity of Nigeria.
The National President, represented by the Vice President of RATTAWU South – South Zone Comrade Terry Idahor, speaking on the theme “Building the Women and connecting the Citizens, bridging the gap for Leadership and Nationhood”, said the contributions of Women in Nation building cannot be overemphasized.
Appreciating their role in nurturing generations, keeping the family together, connecting citizens across tribes and instilling discipline, must be acknowledged as a Catalyst in developing a blueprint for the Progress and Unity of the Country.
President Kalu says, the shared values of hard work, honesty, transparency, inclusivity possessed by Women heal barriers and cement cracks, connecting peoples across various divides in Nigeria.
He lamented, however, the relegation of Women to the background, allowing those revered Values to waste and the Nation to Continue to experience retrogression, political uncertainty, corruption etc.
Nigeria as a Country must overcome its challenges and give Women their Place of Pride.
Educating the Girl Child, investing in Women, giving Women equal representation in Governance, Fighting violence against Women, discrimination and unhealthy practices, will snowball the Country into the Path of Progress and Prosperity.
RATTAWU the National President says, will Continue to project those ideals to make Women an essential part of the Nations Unity in diversity.
President Kalu promised to open the space for Women in RATTAWU to reach their Potentials by creating the Women Wing , thereby allowing them to explore and bring the needed expertise in building RATTAWU to enviable heights.
The National President was received by the Vice President South -South Zone, Edo State State Administrative Council and Chapters.
He was also presented with a RATTAWU flag of honour, representing the Unity of the Union in Edo State.
Comrade Izang Francis Atsen
